The Lunch @ the Library program returns to the St. Charles City-County Library this summer. The program runs from Monday, June 1, through Friday, August 14, and is sponsored by Operation Food Search.
Children 18 and under can visit the Kathryn Linnemann Branch at 2323 Elm Street in St. Charles, Monday through Friday, between noon and 1 p.m., to receive a free meal, served at the branch.
“Lunch @ the Library is about more than providing meals. It helps make sure kids have a welcoming place to learn and stay connected throughout the summer,” said John Greifzu, Library CEO. “Through our partnership with Operation Food Search, we’re able to offer nutritious meals while keeping our local kids engaged with the Library and their community.”
Last year, Kathryn Linnemann Branch staff and volunteers distributed 1,507 meals to children in St. Charles County. This year marks eight years since the Library partnered with Operation Food Search. Together, they’ve distributed over 45,000 meals to children in the community.
Registration is not required to participate in this program. Meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Meal distribution occurs on weekdays when the Library is open. The Library will be closed on Friday, June 19, for Juneteenth.
