The St. Charles City-County Library is partnering with the St. Louis Area Food Bank to help meet the needs of local families by serving as drop-off locations for food donations throughout October.
Bins are located at each branch to collect non-perishable food donations from the community through October 31. St. Louis Area Food Bank has provided a list of Most Needed Items to help ensure donations best meet the current needs of local families.
Food donations that are high in protein, 100% whole grain, low or reduced sodium, and low sugar will make the most nutritious impact.
Most needed items also include:
Canned Meat and Fish
Mac and Cheese
Instant Mashed Potatoes
Canned Fruits & Veggies
Peanut Butter

Canned Chili

Canned Soup
Rice and Pasta Products

“We know we can do more for our community when we work together,” said John Greifzu, Library CEO. “Partnering with the Food Bank is a great example of how local organizations can build on one another’s strengths to make a real difference for our neighbors, especially as we head into the holiday season.”
The Library also partners with St. Louis Area Foodbank to host a Mobile Food Pantry. This walk-through, shopping-style food distribution trailer visits the Deer Run Branch on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 10:30 to 11:30 am.
This initiative is made possible by the Friends of the St. Charles City-County Library, the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank, and the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
