Not Finding What You're Looking For?

Search the Mobius catalog, a collaborative partnership of libraries committed to sharing resources, services and expertise. After searching Mobius and you still can't find what your are looking for you may suggest a title for purchase.

Search Mobius

MOBIUS

What is MOBIUS?

MOBIUS is a consortium of 78 Missouri area libraries with over 29 million items. If what you want isn't available, click the Prospector link in Mobius to search an additional 30 million items. Learn more.

Service Interruption: Patrons will be unable to request from Prospector after January 12, 2024 while the MOBIUS consortium undergoes a software migration. Please utilize Mobius and then WorldCat to find material from another library system.

Why does the Library use MOBIUS?

It is faster, cheaper, and more efficient than getting an item through InterLibrary Loan.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If the item you are looking for is not available in MOBIUS or Prospector, you may place an Interlibrary Loan request.

Use the Library Catalog to search for your item. If it is not available, use the Select Resources link to broaden your search and request an ILL through WorldCat Discovery.

If after searching the Library catalog, Mobius, and WorldCat Discovery you still can't find what your are looking for, you may suggest a title for purchase.

What is Reciprocity?

We have partnered with other St. Louis area libraries to allow you to get a card and borrow their materials without paying nonresident fees. Just remember to bring along acceptable identification with a current address when you visit the library you wish to use.

What are the rules for borrowing?

The borrowing rules and restrictions of the lending library will apply, including fines, fees or charges related to lost or overdue materials. Materials borrowed reciprocally may be returned to any St. Charles City-County branch, but fines or fees must be paid directly to the library where they are owed. For more information, contact us.

What materials are available?

Most items are available to all cardholders, but Hoopla, Kanopy and Interlibrary Loan are not available reciprocally.

Get more titles with the Libby App

The Library, St. Louis County Library, and St. Louis Public Library have teamed up to share OverDrive collections. You can get access to available titles in all three collections. Just add each library system to your account in the Libby app. For more information, visit the Stream & Download page.

Renewing Materials

Renewals are automatic, but there is a limit of six renewals per item. Customers are liable for charges on lost or unreturned materials. Items on hold for others may not be renewed.

Placing Material Holds

Holds may be place in the Library catalog, by phone or in person. When placing your hold, specify the date you want the hold to activate, the pickup branch and how you wish to be notified when it's ready.

Holds Hoppers
Pick up holds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at participating branches. Learn more...

The Library is no longer charging fines for late materials. Fine-free status is available on all books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, and materials from the “Library of Things” (cake pans, WiFi hotspots, and more). No more unexpected fines.

Please note: Customers will still be responsible for existing and future fees charged to their account for lost or damaged materials. The Library will continue to send notifications and reminders about due dates. If materials are not returned within 28 days, they will be considered lost and customers will be responsible for replacement costs.

  • Fees are charged for damaged items, lost materials, and other library products or services.
