Destination 2027

Our recently approved new strategic plan, Destination 2027, is our roadmap to building the library of the future. This plan recognizes that our libraries are more than books and technology — we’re about people and connecting this community. Destination 2027 has enabled us to reimagine how to deliver our services, while acknowledging potential reduction in revenue and continued limited resources. From optimizing physical spaces to curating cutting-edge collections, from nurturing digital literacy to fostering a sense of belonging, each step we take will lead us to a stronger St. Charles County and more vibrant library experience for our residents.

Library Renovations

Spencer Road Branch

Service desk, artist rendering is subject to change

Covered patio, artist rendering is subject to change

The Spencer Road Branch will receive limited interior renovations primarily to the entrance vestibule and atrium area. The plan reconfigures the atrium to create a more welcoming and service-oriented entrance experience. On the exterior, there will be the addition of a patio cover similar to the outdoor space at the Cliff View Branch in Wentzville. This will provide customers with a comfortable outdoor space for gathering, attending classes & events, and for individual use. The patio project is partially funded by the Library Foundation. Closure for renovations is expected to begin December 31, 2023 with plans to reopen by late spring 2024. The branch opened in March of 2012 and has welcomed an average of more than 300,000 visitors per year since it opened.
