Once kids progress beyond early elementary school, they are expected to read independently for information in every subject. Reading is the key to learning - in school and for life.

Book Buddies

Does your child need practice reading aloud?
Try Book Buddies with the Library now available virtually and in-person.

Virtual Book Buddies allows kids to read aloud to teens without having to leave home! Kids will be matched with teen volunteers and spend 30-45 minutes each week reading aloud on Zoom during the 4-week series. Recommended for students who have completed Kindergarten through 4th grade, though readers of any grade level looking for reading practice are welcome to apply.

Read-aloud virtual sessions will take place each Monday night at 6:30 pm from October 3-24.

An in-person option is available for Book Buddies! Kids will be matched with Teen Volunteers and spend 25 minutes each week reading aloud at the Middendorf-Kredell Branch Branch (you must register for one of the locations - walk-ins will not be accepted for these events).

The Middendorf-Kredell Branch will host in-person Book Buddies on Thursday evenings in two separate sessions at 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm. Sign up for only one session!

Middendorf-Kredell Branch: Thurdays, Oct 6-27

*Caregivers will be required to remain at the library while their children are reading.
